Italy’s newly elected president says corruption is a threat to the countries’ future if not rooted out. Over the past years, organized corruption has reached what authorities call unprecedented level, with Italian mafia running the corruption enterprise.  Corruption is also said to be the main factor discouraging business start ups and foreign investments. Italy’s economy has been in crisis since the 2008 economic recession.
