Global: UN says Burundi elections were not fair, human rights were violated


The UN reported that the July 2nd Parliamentary elections in Burundi were not free and fair, and that human rights were violated.  The US Senate has also suspended security assistance to Burundi. Burundi’s political stalemate began in April when President Pierre Nkurunziza, attempted to change the constitution in order to allow him to run for the third term.
