Iran: Former Vice president jailed for corruption
Iran’s former first vice president Mohammad Reza Rahimi has been taken to jail to serve his prison term for corruption. Rahimi who served as President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s deputy will serve a five year term and pay fine worth $300,000, and compensation worth $800,000. The Supreme Court made this ruling after considering appeal against the court’s ruling in which Rahimi had been jailed for 15 years. Rahimi becomes the highest ranking former government official to be jailed for corruption. India: Anti-corruption party wins big in Delhi state elections
Aam Aadmi Party has won 67 of the 70 seats in Delhi state elections. The party is identified as a radical anti-corruption political party. South Africa: Opposition leader Zille says Government isn’t serious about corruption
Democratic Alliance leader Hellen Zille says government is not serious about corruption. This comes after government dismantled the anti-corruption team set in 2010 to fast-track and prioritizes war on corruption. Anwa Dramat the anti-corruption head was suspended in December 2014, a suspension high court later ruled was unlawful.
